On December 24, 2024, Belize marked a historic moment with the export of 39,500 metric tonnes of raw sugar, valued at an impressive 49 million Belize dollars, through the Port of Big Creek. This monumental shipment stands as the largest single export of raw sugar on one vessel in our nation’s history.
We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to the BSI/ASR Group for their trust in the Port of Big Creek, as well as to the sugar cane farmers, whose tireless dedication and hard work have made this achievement possible.
A special recognition goes to the Government of Belize, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture, for their ongoing financial support to the sugar industry and for playing a vital role in this historic moment.
