On April 3rd, a delegation of border control officials from CARICOM member states visited the headquarters of Big Creek Group and the Port of Big Creek for a half-day attachment programme. The event facilitated knowledge exchange and collaboration among key agencies involved in border security and trade facilitation.

Highlights

The programme commenced at 9:00 AM with an introduction of presenters and visitors. This was followed by a presentation and video showcasing the operations of Big Creek Group, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of the port’s logistics and infrastructure.

A walkthrough of the port allowed the visiting officials to observe firsthand the operational aspects of the facility. Following a short break, the event resumed with agency presentations from Immigration, Customs, and BAHA (Belize Agricultural Health Authority). These sessions provided insight into regulatory frameworks, security protocols, and best practices in border management.

The programme concluded with a vibrant Garifuna drumming performance—one of Belize’s spectacular cultural expressions—offering visitors a taste of the country’s rich heritage before departure.
