Long before the sun cleared the horizon on April 26th, the Big Creek Group team was already on the road. The journey from Big Creek, Stann Creek District, all the way north to Blue Creek, Orange Walk District, is no short trip — but for a crew this dedicated, the early start and the long return home in the night were simply part of what makes this tradition worth keeping.
This year marked the 3rd Annual ‘Pesca y Más con el Camaradas’ tournament, organized once again by its dedicated founder, Abner Rubén Aparicio Miguel. Big Creek Group was proud to participate as a sponsor of this year’s event, supporting a celebration that has grown into one of the most anticipated fishing gatherings in the region.
Representing Big Creek this year were five anglers who made the long haul and competed with heart against strong regional competition. They are Desiderio Chinchilla, Daniel Barrientos, Aurelio Menjivar, Carlos Medrano and Jamir Munoz
The competition centered on the Bay Snook — the powerful, elusive freshwater fish native to Central American rivers and lagoons that has become the heart of this tournament. In the blistering Orange Walk heat, every cast counted, and the Big Creek team gave it everything they had. Though the podium prizes went to other talented teams this year, their participation and spirit represent exactly what this event is about.
it's about the camaraderie, the journey, and showing up."
While the anglers worked the water, the supporters made sure the energy on shore never dipped. Food and drinks kept everyone going through the heat of the day. Good company has a way of making any wait worthwhile.

Congratulations to all three winning teams on a well-earned finish. A special mention to Eric Gomez, Jose Pineda, and Alvin Medrano — having participated in all three editions of this tournament, their first-place win this year is a testament to persistence and passion for the sport.
Big Creek Group is proud to sponsor this event and proud to send a team to compete each year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Abner Rubén Aparicio Miguel for his tireless work in organizing and growing this celebration of fishing, friendship, and community. See you at year four. 🎣
