ASR/BSI recently celebrated Women’s Month by organizing a tour of The Port of Big Creek for their female staff members. The event was held to recognize the contributions of women in the industry and provide an opportunity for the female employees to learn about the operations of the port.
The tour began with a thorough walk-through of the port, which included a visit to the sugar facility operated by ASR/BSI. The female employees were able to gain a better understanding of the day-to-day operations of the port and learn about the various roles that women play in the industry.
After the tour, the female staff members of ASR/BSI had the opportunity to meet with a few of our female staff members who shared their experiences working in a male-dominated industry. The women discussed the challenges they faced and how they overcame them, as well as the opportunities that exist for women in the industry.
The event also included a ride on our skiff, during which the female employees had the chance to take a tour of Harvest Caye and Placencia Village, two nearby touristic locations. This was a great opportunity for the women to see the beauty of the local area and learn about its history and culture.
Upon return, we shared snacks and held a short closing talk, during which we discussed the importance of recognizing the contributions of women in the industry. The event was a great success, providing the female employees of ASR/BSI with valuable insights into the workings of The Port of Big Creek and the experiences of our female staff members.
At The Port of Big Creek, we are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in our workplace, and events like this are an essential part of that effort. We look forward to continuing our partnership with ASR/BSI and working together to create a more inclusive and diverse industry.
